Today we’re introducing a new series of posts to The Sock Drawer called Feature Fridays. Feature Fridays was first started on our Facebook page. In this series, we’ll be sharing information about the retail stores we’ve partnered with across the United States. Each Friday we’ll feature a new retailer—highlighting their history, services, and some interesting facts about their location. We’re proud each of these fine shops carries Dapper Classics socks, and we look forward to this new series. You can find a complete list of our retail partners at the Retailers page on our website.
Today’s Feature Friday spotlights Dapper Classics’s very first retail partner: Golden Farley Men’s Shop. Golden Farley is located on the square in beautiful downtown Bowling Green, Kentucky. The store is named after its original owners, Wendt Golden and Bob Farley. Since 1958, this specialty shop has supplied South Central Kentucky with classic menswear. Golden Farley carries business and casual attire and provides tailoring services.
Bowling Green is home to Western Kentucky University and the Chevrolet Corvette. The Everly Brothers 1967 Top 40 hit “Bowling Green” is about this city in Kentucky where “the folks treat you kind.” Although accounts vary, some claim Bowling Green is named after the eponymous park in New York City where patriots tore down a statue of King George III and used its lead for bullets during the American Revolution.
