Feature Friday – Southern Wear And Goods

SWAGToday’s Feature Friday spotlights one of our retail partners in Kentucky: Southern Wear and Goods of Louisville. Laura Lee Boone and Jennifer Smith opened Southern Wear and Goods—or “SWAG” for short—in November of 2013. SWAG is Laura and Jennifer’s second retail venture—the first being CIRCE, a women’s boutique they opened ten years ago. SWAG is a lifestyle store aimed at meeting the clothing needs of men and women of all ages. The shop carries a wide selection of brands, including a variety of companies with roots in the South.

Founded in 1778, Louisville is named after King Louis XVI of France. Louisville is the largest and, perhaps, most culturally diverse city in the Commonwealth. The city has a thriving art and music scene that has served as a launching pad for successful bands such as My Morning Jacket. Each year Louisville hosts the Kentucky Derby, which is considered the most prestigious event in horse racing and “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports”. Many major corporations—including UPS Airlines, Papa Johns, and Yum! Brands—are located in Louisville. The city is also home to Muhammad Ali and the Louisville Cardinals, winners of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship.
