Feature Friday – Joseph’s

Joseph'sToday’s Feature Friday spotlights our first retail partner in Maine: Joseph’s of Portland. Joseph’s was founded in 1974 by Joseph Redman. The store’s building, located in the heart of downtown, was constructed in the 1800’s as a dry-storage warehouse. Known as “Maine’s finest men’s store”, the shop has remained true to its roots of quality, service, and style for 40 years. Joseph’s carries a wide selection of menswear and offers an extensive custom shirting and suiting program.

Portland is the largest city in the state of Maine. Originally named Casco—and later, Falmouth—Portland was first settled in 1633 as a fishing and trading village. When Maine became a state in 1802, Portland was its first capital city. In 1855, the city experienced the Portland Rum Riot in response to the Maine law of 1851 which prohibited the sale and manufacturing of alcohol. Popular tourist destinations in the city include the Portland Museum of Art and the Maine Historical Society & Museum. Portland, Oregon was named after Portland, Maine.
