Dapper Classics For Pi Kappa Phi
Pi Kappa Phi was founded in 1904 at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Over the last 110 years, the fraternity has grown from a membership of 3 to more than 100,000 – with chapters in nearly every state in America. Recently, the fraternity reached out to Dapper Classics to see if we could make some socks exclusively for Pi Kappa Phi. We were happy to knit a unique design which features the fraternity’s colors and star and swords logo (pictured right).
Pi Kappa Phi’s mission is “To create an uncommon and lifelong brotherhood that develops leaders and encourages service to others for the betterment of our communities.” The fraternity’s alumni features leaders across a variety of fields, including Henry Fowler (former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury), Randy Owen (lead singer of the Grammy Award-winning country band Alabama), and Rich Eisen (sports journalist). To learn more about Pi Kappa Phi, visit their website.
Dapper Classics is glad to knit custom socks for fraternities. If your fraternity is interested, please email us at contact@dapperclassics.com.
Feature Friday – Gaidry’s
Today’s Feature Friday spotlights one of our retail partners in Louisiana: Gaidry’s. Gaidry’s was founded in 1920 and has been in its current Lake Charles location since 1985. The store carries casual and dress menswear. Gaidry’s specializes in clothing and accessories that showcase the unique and colorful style of men in southwest Louisiana.
Lake Charles is located approximately one hour from the Gulf of Mexico and midway between Baton Rouge and Houston. The city, originally known as Charleston, shares its name with the beautiful local lake. Lake Charles is a popular tourist destination, in part, because of its large casino market.
Veterans Day Sale 2015
Veteran Spotlight: Mr. Harold
On this Veterans Day, we want to salute one of our favorite veterans – William “Mr. Harold” Reeves. Mr. Harold is like family to the Dapper Classics Team. And when we started our company, he was the recipient of the first official Dapper Classics socks.
A member of “The Greatest Generation”, Mr. Harold was born in 1920. He grew up in Tennessee and volunteered for the military in 1941. He served throughout the duration of WWII.
Mr. Harold was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. His service involved combat throughout Europe – including the Battle of the Rhineland. He was stationed in present-day Czechoslovakia on V-E Day. Following the conclusion of the war, he returned to Tennessee and worked as a carpenter at Fort Campbell.
Mr. Harold has truly embraced living life to the fullest. Whether it be deep sea fishing, traveling to Hawaii with his wife, Daphne, or learning to snow ski in his 70s, he has always been up for a new adventure. Now 95 years old, Mr. Harold continues to make the most of every day. He enjoys morning coffee with friends and caring for his dog and cattle. He also remains active volunteering in his community.
The United States wouldn’t be the place it is today without the sacrifices made by our veterans. We’re fortunate Mr. Harold is a part of our lives, and we’re grateful for his service to our country. We’re also thankful that we can make all Dapper Classics products right here in the USA. Happy Veterans Day!
