Today’s Feature Friday spotlights one of our retail partners in New York: The Red Barn. Don Rhoda founded the store in 1964. With over 50 years in business, The Red Barn has become a Rochester staple. Originally a men’s shop, the store has since expanded to offer clothing and accessories for women and boys. The Red Barn has been named “Best of Class” by Esquire magazine for five consecutive years.
Rochester is located in western New York and has been home to two of the most influential voices in U.S. history. Frederick Douglass started The North Star, an abolitionist newspaper, in Rochester. Susan B. Anthony, a key leader in the women’s suffrage movement, lived in Rochester. The city has also been the origin of several successful companies, including Kodak, Xerox, and Bausch & Lomb.
