Today’s Feature Friday spotlights one of our retail partners in Mississippi: Harry Mayer Clothiers. In 1937, the late Harry Mayer Sr. emigrated to the United States. At the time, he didn’t know a word of English. After working at a local department store for more than three decades, Mayer opened his own business in 1972. Harry Mayer Clothiers is now a third-generation family business. The shop carries men’s and women’s clothing and accessories.
Meridian is located in eastern Mississippi. In 1864, much of the city was burned to the ground at the orders of Union General William Tecumseh Sherman. Today, the city has a thriving military and healthcare economy. Meridian was the birthplace of Jimmie Rodgers, the “Father of Country Music.”
